Peach to cream ombre silk clutch bag. Vintage Japanese silk handbag purse with peacock and fan design. Circa 1950s. Silver metal frame, clasp, chain strap and British coin charm.

* Peach, cream, black and silver woven silk outside / shiny beige silk inside
* One internal sections
* Two internal pockets
* Silver metal chain and charm with head of Queen Elizabeth II (I don't know why a Japanese bag would have a British coin charm on it but there you go! In the Fifties she had just been crowned so it may represent the news of that era).
* Decorative silver metal clasp and frame, hinges fold inside if you don't want to use the strap!
* The textile is woven through with a very fine iridescent metallic thread to give it some sparkle.
* Three little diamanté stones set in the clasp in floral settings.

HISTORY:
Peacocks are a symbol of love in Japanese textiles.

This piece is an original vintage piece dating from the Mid-Showa Period (1950’s). The exterior condition is excellent with some slight wear on the silver metal frame. The inside is in excellent condition.  This item is over 60 years old.
