Sustainable Luxury: Our Commitment to Ethical Japanese Textile Upcycling
At Hunted and Stuffed, we rescue exquisite vintage Japanese silks and give them a second life as luxury home décor. Sustainability isn't just a buzzword—it's the foundation of everything we do. From our upcycled obi cushions to our eco-friendly packaging, every decision reflects our commitment to the planet.
Our Production Values: Zero-Waste Upcycling
All our textile products are crafted from repurposed vintage Japanese silks. We use as much of each original garment as possible, finding inventive ways to honour every thread. Founder Ellie Laycock has championed upcycling since publishing her book on the subject in 2012 (Cico Books)—long before it became mainstream.
Every piece is handmade in the UK. Any textiles we can't repurpose are donated to local sewing groups or textile recycling charities, ensuring nothing goes to waste.
Sustainable Packaging Materials
We've carefully selected every packaging component to minimize environmental impact:

Printed Materials: FSC-certified, chlorine-free, and 100% recyclable.
Tissue Paper: 100% biodegradable.
Paper Tape: Solvent-free adhesive makes it 100% biodegradable and recyclable alongside cardboard.

Mailing Bags (rarely used): 100% recyclable, made from 100% recycled plastic.
Bubble Wrap (rarely used): 100% recyclable and biodegradable—breaks down naturally when exposed to sunlight, heat, and moisture.
