Metallic lilac fold over clutch. This circa 1970s lilac / pink vintage evening bag with cream wild waves pattern is made from vintage kimono silk.

* Measures 23cm x 11.5cm x 4cm  /  9” x 4.5” x 1.5”

* Age marks to the bottom of the purse on the inside, not visible from the outside.

HISTORY:
High waves like this are known as Araumi (rough sea) and were initially portrayed with fierce sea creatures amongst the waves, but in recent centuries are usually stylised.
This piece is an original vintage piece dating from the Late-Showa Period (1970’s). The exterior condition is excellent on the front, some marks on the back (see photo). Interior is good condition but there are age marks to the base of the inside (not visible from outside) – otherwise in excellent condition for an item over 50 years old.
