Cut from an original Japanese wedding uchikake, this silk cushion cover centres on a single crane set amongst layered florals on a richly woven red ground. The textile dates from the mid-Showa period and was once part of a formal ceremonial kimono.

In Japanese symbolism, the crane (Tsuru) is believed to live for a thousand years and represents longevity and good fortune — a timeless motif associated with celebration and renewal.

• Approx. 31cm x 31cm / 12 inch square
• Limited edition of 1
• Fully lined with concealed zip at base
• Sold as cushion cover only (pillow insert not included)

The front panel is crafted from authentic vintage Japanese silk. The reverse is finished in hammered gold satin selected to complement the warmth of the woven metallic detailing. Each piece is carefully constructed in our UK studio and strengthened with a cotton lining for durability.

The exact cushion shown in the photographs is the one you will receive. A printed Hunted & Stuffed guide to Japanese textile symbolism is included with every order.
