Red Vintage Kimono XL Bolster with Green Velvet

W32cm x L92cm | Silk Brocade, Gilt Thread, Cotton Velvet | Multicoloured, Green
This beautiful red vintage Kimono silk has been upcycled into a designer bolster pillow by skillfully repurposing Japanese vintage silk 'Uchikake" Kimono wedding brocade with gilt thread.

Completely covered in beautiful embroidery which is full of auspicious ancient Japanese symbolism and designed to imbue the wearer with it's talismanic good fortune.

Cranes represent longevity and good fortune as they are traditionally believed to live for a thousand years and to inhabit the land of the immortals. This pair woven into the design represent a happy marriage.

They fly over vibrant mountains (overcoming life’s challenges) and a winding stream (representing continuity and the future).

Auspicious flowers are depicted including Plum Blossom (Ume – a protective charm against evil) and Peonies (wealth, good fortune, ageless beauty). Free guide to Japanese symbols included.

Upcycled from Uchikake, or vintage wedding kimonos, the fabric has been perfectly preserved.
It is quite large (92cm long x 32cm wide) and would make a truly inspired wedding gift or an eye-catching statement and talking point in any room.

Strengthened and protected inside by a cotton lining, each cushion is professionally overlocked and sewn with a concealed zip at the base for easy removal. Luxury cotton velvet is used on the reverse in colours that compliment the vintage brocades.

Filled with a British made luxury quality feather pad. Each cushion is hand made in the UK and comes with it's own beautifully foiled tag (also handmade in the UK on a vintage printing press) that details the date and origin of each beautiful textile.
