Deco Pink Silver Cushion 1920s Metallic Kimono Silk

30cm x 48cm | Silk | Pink, Silver
Pink and silver pillow, metallic accent cushion with pine (matsu) motif. Handmade with upcycled vintage kimono obi silk and hand-stitched with feather insert.

This fabric is a real find - originally woven in the Taisho period (1920s) in the prestigious Nishijin weaving district but looks as fresh as the day it was made.

This beautiful, rare throw cushion with metallic accents really catches the light. Use to finesse your sofa decor and add an injection of colour. There are only two made so would make a truly unique gift or treat. Comes with hand foiled tag which details it's edition number.

Ethically produced by upcycling/repurposing vintage silk originally from a Japanese Obi belt, used to tie Kimono.

The pine motif is known as Matsu, a traditional Japanese symbol of longevity. We will send you our Hunted and Stuffed guide to symbols in Japanese textiles FREE with every order.

The front is made from upcycled vintage Japanese obi silk which is woven with real gilt thread. The reverse is made from upcycled vintage kimono silk.

The woven silk dates from the Taisho Period (90 years +) and may have some minor signs of it's previous life. Professional cleaning recommended.

The cushion is hand sewn with a high quality feather and down pad included.
